Here two courses will set you back £29, making this an exceptionally good value choice when you consider the quality of the ingredients, the fine cooking and professional presentation. Start with something like carpaccio of grilled scallops with sticky rice and cucumber, before moving onto a main such as cumin roast duck with mushroom cream risotto, or pepper venison with creamed artichoke, shitake mushrooms and jus of lemongrass.

This style conscious brasserie on the waterfront is a really new and exciting addition to
Belfast ’s restaurant scene. Start your meal with the likes of roast asparagus wrapped in Parma ham with lemon hollandaise, or polenta crusted ricotta gnocchi with roast tomato dipping sauce. Mains then range from seared duck breast with five spice seasoning on cumin roasted carrot, or grilled rump of Irish lamb with braised potatoes and minted pea pesto. Expect to pay around £13 per main course.

Cayenne
is the restaurant owned and run by celebrity chef Paul Rankin and his wife Jeanne. The restaurant is ideal for those looking for something a little special, either for an important business lunch or an intimate dinner for two. Café Milano
92-94 Lisburn Road , Belfast (028 906 89777)
Café Milano is a chic and modern Italian that’s part of the highly successful Liberante Group of restaurants. The large and airy dining area offers plenty of space but booking is still recommended. On the menu you’ll find pizza, pasta and meat and seafood options giving something to tempt every palate. Especially good are the well-stocked seafood platters and the breast of chicken cooked with garlic, tomato and oregano and topped with mozzarella.

Ta Tu Bar & Grill
701 Lisburn Road , Belfast (028 903 80818)
The Ta Tu Grill boasts an award-winning design that is every bit as appealing as its menu. The carefully worked out menu is the work of head chef Neil Bradley and opens with starters such as grilled swordfish with bitter greens and citrus tomato vinaigrette, or spiced foie gras with green papaya salad. Highlights of the main courses are caramelised monkfish with Asian greens and crispy rice, or char-grilled salmon with fried courgettes and tomato and spicy herb sauce.
