Chelsea Wine Bar

This contemporary wine bar has a really light and airy feel to it and attracts a modern crowd. There’s an excellent range of varied wines on offer but this place is also well known for serving up first class cocktails. The other attraction is the food, expect dishes such as sweet chilli chicken stir-fry, or pork loin with braised red cabbage and garlic roast potatoes and there’s also a choice of catch of the day fish options.

Bar Bacca

Bar Bacca is aimed at the ultra trendy set with a really cool vibe and even cooler interior, with lots of low slung seating packed with beautiful cushions and soft lighting. Cocktails are the real speciality here with the likes of champagne cocktails at £6.75, or bellinis, vanilla martinis and a great cosmopolitan. They also serve a varied range of bar snacks such as chilli ribs, mini pizzas and spiced chicken wings.

This traditional award-winning bar dates back as far as 1859 and is loved for its traditional feel and fine ales. It enjoys a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere and has a range of good food on offer. Friday night is live music night when the place is particularly busy.

Not so much a bar as a whole multi-entertainment facility. The bar area boasts a stylish look that attracts many a local celebrity. Drinks include a vast range of beers, wines and spirits as well as an exciting selection of cocktails. Whilst on the menu there are dishes such as seared pork with Asian mix and plum & ginger dressing, rosemary and garlic studded chicken, or sea salted salmon with crisp potatoes and red pepper essence.  

McHughs 29-31 Queen’s Square, Belfast (028 902 47830)
Set in an 18th century building, one of the oldest in the city, McHughs is both a bar and restaurant. The Basement Bar appeals more to the lively party crowd where there’s often live music going on, whereas the ground floor bar offers a more relaxed area to chat and enjoy a few drinks with friends.
